In my travels birding the 7 Continents, my 6000th bird was the Yellow Rumped Honeyguide that I was able to see in the Mishmi Hills with Binanda Hatibaruah as my guide. I did a 10 day trip to Maguri Beel and the Mishmi Hills in my life long quest for Birds and it was an excellent expedition with Binanda and his team of Wild Feathers. It was a milestone trip for me as I crossed my 6000th bird in this trip. I have detailed my thanks and appreciation for the hard work of Binanda Hatibaruah in my book "Birding without Borders". Over the years I have been given to understand that Mr Hatibaruah has matured and become a more accomplished guide and tour leader, among the very best in North East India. It would be fun to bird with him again after all these years.
Birdwatching with Binanda and his team at Wild Feathers has always been a pleasure and fruitful. In my last 2 decades of birdwatching, Binanda has always been my go to man for the entire North East of India. His keen sense of hearing and sight has always rewarded me with new birds and my entire life list of Eastern Himalayan birds has been because of Binanda's passion and love for birds. Needless to say all arrangements, fooding and transport has always been seamlessly and professionally organised by his team at Wild Feathers. Anybody wanting to explore this treasure trove of Avifauna of North East India should always consider Wild Feathers for the best birding experience of this region.
Wild Feathers organized a wildlife and birdwatching tour for me to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and the Maguri Wetlands, as well as Dihing-Patkai National Park. Manash Pratim was my guide, assisted by Runap Gogoi and Pallul Hazarika. This was an exceptionally well organized and fruitful trip, in which I saw more than fifty species of new birds I had never seen before, as well as exciting mammals such as elephants, hoolock gibbons, wild buffalo, river dolphins and feral horses. Wild Feathers put together an outstanding tour that was both comfortable and rewarding in every way. Anyone who wants to visit the Northeast, with an interest in wildlife and wild places should contact Wild Feathers for an unforgettable experience.
I have known Binanda from the day he started his life as a professional birdguide and tour leader and have travelled to many parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh with him. I have added over 200 new birds thanks to him and his team at Wild Feathers.
He is blessed with great eyesight and exceptional hearing and with him by my side, birding has always been very rewarding.
