We promote birdwatching and bird photography tours exclusively focussed on the 8 North Eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim. The Eastern Himalayas are a treasure trove of avian species with altogether 986 species of avian fauna belonging to 339 genera and 70 families being distributed throughout the North-eastern States of India. Among the states, Assam has the highest number at 949 species which is followed by Arunachal Pradesh with 905 species, Manipur with 735 species, Nagaland with 733 species, Meghalaya with 723 species, Mizoram with 676 species, Sikkim with 760 species and Tripura the lowest number at 549 species. The region also harbours 23 endemic species and 50 Indian Red Data Book threatened species.
Wild Feathers has been promoted by Sri Binanda Hatibaruah, a bird guide and tour leader who has been passionately involved in birdwatching and conservation for the last two decades. He started off with very humble beginnings as a bird guide at Maguri Beel and adjoining grasslands way back in 2001 and with his hard work and dedication towards nature and birding, is today regarded as one of the best bird guide and tour leader for the North East of India. Not only has he has written a detailed book on the Birds of Maguri Beel and Motapung, he also has mentions in a lot of scientific papers on rare sightings of birds in North East India. In view of his passion for wildlife in general and birds in particular, he has been awarded the “Assam Gaurav” award, the 3rd highest civilian state award in the category of Bird Watcher by the Government of Assam in the year 2023.
